This lyrical 19th century retablo on heavy gauge tin dates to the second half of the 19th century. San Jeronimo, patron saint of philosophers and scholars, is almost always portrayed in this context; as a hermit with his attributable lion and his symbols of penance before him. He is usually accompanied by a crucifix, a skull, a scourge, a book and a lion. Condition: minor paint loss. Dimensions are 7" x 10"
