This rare 19th century retablo, painted on heavy gauge tin, represents "La Piedad," sometimes also called "La Lamentacion." This classic Piedad depicts a crucified Christ in the arms of the Madonna with the symbols of the passion in the foreground. The retablo is attributed to Concepcion Avila - the "bee sting lip" painter. Dimensions: 10 inches vertical x 7 inches horizontal. Condition is excellent with ony a few small spots of paint loss.
